How to improve your self confidence

by admin on January 26, 2011

Self confidence is a treasure. It’s something that you can use to achieve goals, and no one can take it away from you. Only problem is, not a lot of people have the level of self confidence needed in making things work. If you’ve been insecure all your life, don’t worry, there are ways on how you can improve your self confidence. Before I give you tips though, let me tell you that improving self confidence doesn’t only take minutes, hours or days. It is a long process, but it can definitely be achieved.  So, here are simple tried- and- tested ways on how you can improve your self confidence.

TAKE TIME TO RECOGNIZE YOUR INSECURITIES

Before you can start building your confidence, take the time to recognize all of your insecurities. Write it down on a piece of paper, and reflect on it. Ask yourself why you are insecure about such things, but don’t find the solutions just yet. Just feel all of those insecurities, then let it go by burning the paper. Once this is done, forget about them, and move on to the next phase.

ACCEPT YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE

You might think otherwise, but you’re really not so bad. Once you accept the whole you—your weaknesses, your strengths and your issues—you get to move on with life, and stop being so insecure. Just remember that nobody’s perfect, so you don’t have to be ashamed when you’re not.

IDENTIFY YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Once you’ve worked on your insecurities, take time to identify your achievements. It could be something as small as baking a cake or as big as developing a selling strategy for your company. Everybody has achievements, so be proud about yours. Write down all of the strategies that you can remember, even when it dates back to your childhood. Give yourself time to feel proud about them, and keep that pride within you.

PUT ON A SMILE

When you have to do something you’re really afraid to do, just go ahead and put on a big smile. Lift your head, and believe that you can do it. Remember that people really have no idea whether you can do something or not, so just go ahead and pretend that you can do it. Funny, but it actually works in lifting your self esteem. Also maintain a presence of mind, and give yourself time to think before talking (especially during a job interview).

Self Improvement Basics

by admin on February 16, 2010

Do you have doubts over who you are as a person? Do you always wonder how you are going to be received at the next meeting or social gathering? Do you think that there are certain parts of your personality that you would like to improve upon? When it comes to self improvement, no-one is perfect and therefore it is something that all people should be looking to do throughout their lives. If you ever want to change a part of yourself and make yourself better then there are certain steps that you should take towards this end.

The first thing that you need to do is to accept the person that you are. One you know who you are and accept what you are then you will have the base from which you can go about your personal improvement. By lying to yourself about your characteristics and over blowing what you actually are you will never get anywhere. You need to be honest with yourself if you want to develop.

Once you know what you are then you can evaluate yourself and work out which parts of yourself you are wanting to improve the most. If you want to become more confident then you need to factor this is. If you want to be more charming then this can be done.

You now need to focus on changing your negative habits towards what you do. You need to prevent yourself from following through with something that you want to change. Awareness is everything and when you recognize yourself doing something, make sure that you stop. After a while your habits will change.

In addition to developing better habits in your behavior, you can also take steps to improve your overall self image and the way you present yourself. Take care to improve your personal appearance. Get recommendations or advice on personal care and grooming. Good nail care, hairstyling, and skin care tips can help you look healthy and attractive. Good personal style is a must when it comes to putting your best foot forward. If needed, get some up-to-date makeup tips or fashion tips and incorporate those into your daily routines. You don’t need to be excessively trendy, but keeping yourself up-to-date can help you feel more confident in yourself and can also help you make a good first impression to others.

Last of all, look at yourself from a new perspective and viewpoint. Think about how you might appear to other people. When you change your habits consider how you now look to them. If you want even get some feedback from them as well on how you are changing as a person. If they see a change then you will be taking steps in the right direction.

If you follow these steps you will find yourself improving and developing in no time.

Finding Serenity from Calamity

by admin on January 10, 2010

For years growing up I wanted to believe in something… something besides Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. As a child, I would sit in trees for hours, watching all the birds and the clouds floating by. I was inspired by the vastness of the universe and all the things that it could hold. Then, when I was around fifteen, I discovered alcohol.

For the next twenty years I would search for my place in life. And alcohol was always right there with me. At which point I became an alcoholic, I’m not sure, but the realization was made pretty early in my twenties. At one point, I remember having this sinking feeling in my soul that no matter what I accomplished in life, I would always be left unsatisfied. One thing I realize now, I had “having fun” confused with happiness. My life, while addicted to king alcohol, was full of calamity.

Deep down, it seems that everyone wants to believe in some power greater than themselves; in some universal life force that connects all living things. For most of my life, I wanted to believe in a power greater than myself, but I lived as if I was the center of the universe. What I lacked was some type of spiritual guidance and a reason to live besides drinking alcohol and having fun.

At the age of 36, after years of trying to get sober, I finally accepted the fact that I was an alcoholic and that I needed to learn about treating alcoholism, my alcoholism. So I entered a 28 day rehab center, actually it was the third time I had tried rehab, but this time I was doing it for me!

One of the most important things I have learned in recovery is how to find happiness in yourself. Once I learned how to love myself, I found that everything I need to be happy is already inside of me! Prior to embracing recovery, everything seemed like a major traumatic event, my life was full of calamity. After years of working on a spiritual program of recovery, I’m now able to match calamity with serenity. I’ve finally found something to believe in; myself and the spiritual power of the universe in which I live.
