What is Bodybuilding?

by admin on December 9, 2010

Bodybuilding is method wherein the body is modified through rigorous muscle hypertrophy. Bodybuilders modify their bodies for various reasons. However, the most popular reason for it is because of competitive bodybuilding. Also many people go onto bodybuilding after first trying to improve the body’s appearance by finding out how to get ripped abs.

In these competitions, bodybuilders display their muscles in front of the judges. The judges give points based on specified criteria. Displaying the muscles is a process known as cutting phase. Here, oils and tanning are used to give a more distinct look for the different muscle groups.

There are three main techniques in muscle hypertrophy. The first is known as the strength training. This is done through hydraulic and elastic resistance or weights. The second is known as the specialized nutrition. Bodybuilders incorporate extra supplements and protein into their diet. Finally, adequate rest and recuperation is needed in between workouts.

Some bodybuilders use substances that enhance their performance. Some use drugs such as anabolic steroids to increase muscle building. Others use pro-hormones for the process as well. These substances require medical supervision and prescription from a professional. They have to be prescribed by a doctor for them to be legally accessed. Anabolic steroids have a couple of side effects. These include male baldness, hepatotoxicity, acne, and even decline in the production of testosterone. If not properly used, this substance can cause testicular atrophy.

Another substance, known as the human growth hormone, also causes acromegaly. It is also very important to have enough rest in between workouts. Muscle growth occurs during this resting period. If not given enough sleep and rest, muscles will not recover and develop. Bodybuilders have to have at least eight hours of sleep. Some prefer daytime sleep over nighttime. This does not matter since people have varied preferences.

Over-training has to be avoided at all costs. This happens when a bodybuilder has done more than enough workload for his capacity. This can be due to lack of enough nutrition, lack of sleep, and lack of recovery time.

Some believe that over-training is actually beneficial. Some believe that if one needs to take a rest for some time, over-training before that rest period can help muscles develop and recuperate better. In most cases, however, over-training is usually unplanned and unnecessary.

by admin on February 24, 2010

Are you a skinny guy or gal who finds it difficult to tone your body and build muscles? Well, muscle building for skinny people is actually not that hard. All you need is the proper understanding of the critical factors involved regarding your body type and once you are armed with that information, you can immediately bulk up fast! Here are some important tips that you need to bear in mind. Read on!

Metabolism – Skinny guys typically have a very fast metabolism. This high metabolic rate is the reason why you stay thin and find it difficult to develop muscle mass. Why? Well, to put it simple, you burn fats at a much faster rate even if you are not exerting that much effort. Your metabolism burns your intake of calories so fast that it does not give your muscles enough time to absorb the nutrients from the foods that you consume and the energy to repair and rebuild themselves.

Rest – Many skinny people have this wrong notion that exercising more will help them develop their muscles. The real key if you want to develop your muscles is for you to provide your body with ample rest so that your muscles will properly grow. Over training yourself will only hamper your muscles from growing. What you can do instead is to give your body the right foods and provide it with enough rest, so it would be easier for your body to absorb and use the calories and nutrients you take in since it is during your rest and recovery period is when your muscle are actually growing. Nutrients – The quality of foods is more important rather than the quantity of foods that you consume. You need nuts, rice, soy, beans and other foods which are packed with protein and carbohydrates if you want to build muscle. You need to create and eat a well balanced diet that consists of the two important components which are carbs and protein.
