Why You Do Not Need Detox Diets

by admin on June 1, 2010

There is no shortage of reasons why you need detox diets to lose weight and improve your overall health. Diet experts are tripping over themselves to tell us that detox diets can help us quickly lose a few pounds and help our bodies get rid of harmful toxins, but not all diet gurus agree. A number of prominent certified nutritionists, for example, have recently voiced their concerns about what they see as an overuse and sometimes a misuse of popular detox diets.

Personally, assuming you are using a quality detox diet, I do not think there is a cause for concern, but lately I have been asking myself if we really need detox diets at all. In other words, is it possible to lose weight and improve our health without various detox diets and cleanses? As it turns out, the answer is yes, and here is how.

First of all, if you are in good general health, not overweight and do not need to lose weight, you do not need any diets at all. Keep doing what you are doing, because it is obviously working for you. Second, if you need to lose a few pounds and get in shape, all you need to do is to find a balanced diet that you can follow for an extended time. In fact, you should not think about it as a diet at all, think of it as an improvement over your old and not very exciting eating habits.

Third, forget about quick fixes that often promise incredible results. They never work long term and might have unpleasant side effects. Instead, put together a balanced diet that consists of organic vegetables, fruits, grass-fed proteins, fish, and whole grains. Do not be afraid of complex carbohydrates that supply your body with fiber and other important nutrients.

Last but definitely not least, if you want to be in top shape, you need to be active. Now, many people seem to think that staying active means going to the gym at least three times a week, but it is a myth that you need to have an elaborate exercise program to maintain great physique. It does not take much to keep your body in good health. Go for a hike, take stairs whenever you can, ride a bicycle, walk to the store instead of driving, clean your house – in short, use your imagination, it really does not take much to stay active.

Is a Full Body Detox a Good Idea?

by admin on April 20, 2010

I know that you must have heard about detoxifying, and if you believe anything people say about it you must have at least tought about doing a cleanse yourself. Some say that doing a total cleanse made them lose 10 pounds in two days, and then another 20 pounds in the following two weeks. Some say that thanks to their Master Cleanse they were able to get rid of their sugar cravings, improved their blood triglyseride levels, and cured cancer. Should you believe them or is this all just a marketing hype?

The truth is that there isn’t really too much scientific data about detoxifying, and that is why doctors will not recommend them to anyone. Many pseudo health professionals say that a full body detox can be the answer to all your problems, but even they don’t really know whether it will produce the hoped results. They have a few clients who probably had good results with it, just by sheer luck, and since they don’t do a complete evaluation of the physical health of their customers, they are basically guessing whether it could be good for the customer.

In my opinion a complete detoxifying process every now and then can be a good idea, but the most important thing that you could do is to avoid getting the stuff in your body that you need to be detoxified from. Don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke and don’t use medication unless it is prescribed to you by a doctor. Most of us don’t really need NSAID-medication but we just use them whenever we have some ache, the same thing goes for other over the counter medication also. By eating organic foods, and living a healthy life you don’t have to detox on a regular basis, and you will never have any problems why you should even consider doing a cleanse like this.

Alcohol Detox-How I Survived

by ChangeYourLife on March 13, 2010

Everyone on earth, sometime or another has had some bad times, and has had stress in their lives.  Some of us can handle these bad times, and then there are the ones, including myself, who turn to a different source.

Unfortunately, these sources can lead up to Alcohol or Drug abuse.  We start out just trying to relieve our stress, and try to feel a little better about what is happening in our life, so we turn to Alcohol or Drugs to fix the problem.

As we continue to drink to relieve our stress, we start to get used to how our problems seem to disappear while under the influence.  At this time our bodies start to become used to this pressure release, and we have now gone from Abuse to now Addition.

I can say this because, this is what happened to me.

I was to weak to face the stress and the problems on my own without a crutch to lean on.  Now, after admitting that this has gone to far, I had to figure out how I was going to get out of this addiction, and face my problems head on and become Sober again.

I was afraid to stop drinking because I was worried about what might happen to me if I should stop.  My body was now so use to the Alcohol and I wondered how I would feel with out it.

Everyone would say, just slow it up a little, cut down a little at a time.  Well, that’s great if your are that type of person.  I, was not, I had to face the fact that I would have to go Cold Turkey or nothing.

So, there I went on my  journey to Sobriety.  I was afraid, but I knew I could do it, not only for myself, but for my family and friends as well.

I started off with the most important thing first, and that was a Positive Attitude .  Now, I have to get through the Alcohol Detox part of my journey.

In the beginning of my journey to Sobriety, yes I was not feeling that great, but drinking every day of my life, I also didn’t feel wonderful by far.  But, as days and weeks went by I felt as if the world was lifted off my shoulders.  I was surviving on my own without my crutch.

As time goes by, your body gets use to NOT having the alcohol in you system, just the same way as it gets use to HAVING alcohol in your system.

Things began to start getting better in my life, and everything started to become easier to deal with.  I learned to deal with my problems being Sober.  When I drank the problems where always there but I just didn’t care due to the alcohol.

Granted, so many people have an Addiction that is far worse than others.  I was fortunate that I could do this Detox on my own, thanks to all the support of my family and my good friends, and most of all, God, that has given me the willingness and the strength to  be able to do this on my own.

You may read my stories, thoughts, and my ideas on how I was able to Survive my Alcohol Detox on my own.
