Losing weight is no big deal, it can easily be achieved with a little bit of effort and self restraint. Effort for a couple of month and self-restraint to avoid junk food for a while.

But to lose belly fat is much more difficult. I lost 14 pounds over 5 months and I still have some belly fat. So how to lose belly fat? In order to lose the belly fat you need a sustained effort and far more self-restraint. The problem is that you can’t focus your energy on getting rid on that specific part of your body. You need to keep losing weight until your body decides to eliminate that fat deposit. And that can take a while.

ABS Exercises

Don’t get fooled by those workout programs that promise you a six-pack in a few months. It is impossible, no matter how much you push yourself. There is no point in doing only abs exercising, you will only pump your abs muscles but they will still be hidden behind your beer belly. A total body workout is more efficient if your goal is a six-pack. Everyone has beautiful abs, but they are covered by fat.

Marathon Approach

You need to look at this process the same way you would a marathon. In a marathon you won’t sprint at the beginning, you will pace yourself to be able to finish the race. Losing belly fat is a long process and you need to be prepared to endure it for a long period of time. You will need to think about the nutritional aspect as a lifestyle change, you will need to change your habits, not diet for a short period of time. By changing your eating habits with new, healthy ones and incorporating a daily exercising routine you will be able to reach your goals. You will also gain additional benefits, like increased energy levels throughout the day, better health and a stronger body. And yes you will look good too.

Big stomach is just but embarrassing, right? People can’t help but always notice it. When you sit down at the table and feel your belt stretch a little longer, you will realize that to lose stomach fat is both great and difficult. You even hate yourself some more when you see your stomach overflowing your waistline. Our stomach is definitely the hardest area to burn fats. It needs real hard work.

Do you want to learn the fastest way to lose stomach fat fast? I have 3 of the most effective fitness tips to discuss with you right now. If you are ready to trim that bulging belly today, here is your smart list:

1. Cutting Out Sugar & White Flour

Eating food with less sugar and white flour is the best way to lose stomach fat. Try it! It can be really challenging if you love to eat sweets and its kind but you can find better alternatives that are surely healthier and affordable such as fruits.

White flour is prevalent in many items that you eat or is served to you at home or in the restaurants. This makes it difficult to cut and let go. What you need to do is to keep away from breaded foods and mix in whole wheat products. Check the label!

2. Limit your food portions

Prepare several meals that range between 200-400 calories throughout the day. Divide every 2-3 hours between these meals for you to see a big difference.

Avoiding soft drinks and dressing is one way how to lose stomach fat fast. Besides that they are not really necessary part of our regular meals, they are apparently not nutritious for the body. You don’t really them and you know that for sure.

Get your metabolism pick up and burn faster. How? Store fewer calories and space it over the course of the day by eating a slighter portion of your daily food. This is not that difficult to do. You just have to set the right expectation for yourself with the amount of food you have to eat in one meal and for sure you can do it! Others did.

3. Core Exercise

If you want results, like real results… face the problem headstrong! Several exercises like crunches, leg lifts & instituting exercise balls are just a few that will absolutely work for you. These are common and practical exercises that you can do to help burn fat thoroughly. You can do these fat burning exercises at the comfort of your home. Hassle-free!

Most of the time, people do not pay attention to exercises that move the whole body. Yoga is one exercise strongly recommended to do this.

Everything is established in the core. It will not only take care of your daily work out but most importantly, your daily life. So stop embarrassing yourself by looking fat and miserable. There is something you can do right now. They don’t need to be expensive! They just need enough self control and consciousness.

So what are you waiting for? Start losing that big belly today!

Everyone would like to lose a little weight, or especially to learn the best way to lose belly fat. However, most of us waste our time and energy trying to follow the latest fad diet or scam exercise program. Losing weight effectively and quickly, and ultimately improving our health, is all about following four fundamental principles to guide our new diet and exercise program. Here they are:

1) Eat less food more often. This may sound paradoxical, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Eating mini-meals throughout the day will keep your metabolism roaring, increasing the number of calories you burn. Simply eating one or two huge meals will mean your body is starving throughout the day. When it goes into starvation mode, your body burns fewer calories, leading to no weight loss.

2) Exercise less time with more intensity. Unless your goal is to run marathons, two hour marathon sessions at the gym won’t be very beneficial for you. First, they use up a lot of your valuable time. Second, you will get more benefit out of shorter, more intense workouts. Add more sprints, intervals, and circuit training to your workout to get these benefits.

3) Keep track of your progress. This is important because it will tell you if your efforts are worth it. Record your starting weight and, if possible, body fat percentage, and update your numbers every week. Make a graph or chart in Excel to plot your progress over time. This will keep you motivated too, eager to put in the next data point.

4) Make this a lifestyle change. People fail to lose weight when they see this process as temporary, as only directed towards a temporary goal of losing pounds. To lose the weight, and more importantly to keep it off, you need to see this as a change in your habits, not simply as something you’re doing in the moment.

You’ve committed or recommitted yourself to fitness. Congratulations! Taking charge of your health is one of the most important decisions you can make. Making fitness a priority positively influences your personal well being and sets a good example for those around you.

If you’ve decided to join a gym in your effort to get in shape then there are a few things to keep in mind. Joining a gym is not the magic pill some people believe it to be. Simply belonging to a gym will not get you in shape. There are many people who joined a gym eight months ago but haven’t stepped inside in over five months. Sometimes this occurs when people join a gym for the wrong reasons.

1. Location

While having a gym close to where you live or work is an obvious plus there are potential drawbacks. Location, location, location is about real estate not about gym memberships. If the gym does not meet your needs or offer the equipment or exercise classes that you’re interested in – take a pass. Scope out the clientele and staff while touring the facility. Make sure you are comfortable with all aspects of the gym.

2. Discounts

Don’t succumb to the pressure to join a gym simply because a discounted rate is being advertised. Special sign-up rates occur every month at gyms that are looking to increase their membership. Choose a gym that has the amenities that you are looking for even if the monthly fee is a bit higher than other gyms in the area. If you don’t see a discount rate advertised for your chosen gym then simply ask the management for their last discounted rate and if they would consider offering it to you. Most gyms will not turn away new members just to save a few dollars on the front end.

3. Personal trainer

If you’re looking for a personal trainer and you think you can only find one at a gym then let me save you some money right now. You can use a Polar F55 or any other Polar heart rate monitor to help you train and get the results that you want. These types of tools are sometimes better than a personal trainer because of the convenience. You work out on your own schedule not on the personal trainer’s schedule.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of new diet programs that are popping up every day. There are fad diets like the Atkins diet, prepackaged diets like Medifast and even diets that let you eat cookies all day. The problem is how do we know what works and what doesn’t?

Well the simple answer is that we are all different so if the South Beach diet works for you it doesn’t mean it will work for me. The key is experimenting to figure out what diets work best for you and more importantly what you can stick to. After all a diet could work amazingly well but if you aren’t going to stick with it then you’ll never lose weight.

So you might be asking how you determine which diets are best for you? Unfortunately trial and error is the best option (unless your doctor recommends one), but you can narrow it down. Let’s say you don’t like fish, well an all seafood diet wouldn’t work for you. If you don’t like spending money on pre-packaged diet foods then Medifast may not be the best option, even if you have a Medifast coupon to save a few bucks.

The best thing to do is start with the easiest diet first. Some people are able to lose weight eating what they normally do, as long as they exercise more often. Some people just have to cut out desert at night and maybe mix in a salad instead of French fries. You’d be amazed how little changes can help.

If you need to lose more than a couple pounds I think the simplest diet is Weight Watchers. I have used the online version of Weight Watchers myself and I found it very easy to do compared to more extreme diets like Atkins and I think it is a much better jumping off point for people who are new to dieting.

That all said, the only one who can figure out what diet works for you and what diet you would actually stick with is you. There are a lot of diets out there and there is certainly something for everyone.

One thing everyone wants is a great looking six pack. Most people struggle getting a six pack because they do not really know how to get one. Once you know how to get a six pack you can get results pretty fast since you are eating and training in the right way. Your next goal will be to improve your six pack and really make it pop.

The first thing you must understand about abs training is that if you ever want to see your six pack you will need to lose body fat. You already have a six pack but it is covered by a layer of fat. Only by lowering your body fat will you be able to see your abs. No ab training is complete without 3 days of interval cardio training. Interval training basically requires rotating between brief periods of high intensity and low intensity. This is an extremely efficient way to burn fat. So spend less time on weight benches and more time burning fat if you want to see your abs.

Here are 9 tough ab exercises that will help your abs really pop:

Russian Twist

Seated Ball Pass

Reverse Crunch with Medicine Ball

Cross-Legged Crunch

Cable Crunch

Lying Side Crunch

Stability Ball Crunch

Lying Crunch

Machine Weighted Crunch

Training your abs the right way requires doing the right exercises. Stop wasting your time on crunches and start getting results with these 9 exercises. These exercise are selected for their ability to target the different areas of the abdominals helping your muscles to really pop. If your goal is to get a six pack you need to lose body fat, if your goal is to get a great looking six your need to build up the abs. Now that you know the right way to train stop doing millions of crunches on flat weight benches and start getting results.

A more experienced runner who wants to run faster will use the technique of association during the process of running. This is one of the best running tips that increases focus on form, breathing, and feelings during running. It involves monitoring and paying close attention to signals from every part of your body, which in turn you can use to run faster and harder.

However, association is not the best approach for beginning runners, according to coach David Virtue. When beginning runners use association, it is common for them to experience thoughts that urge them to stop running because it hurts and it’s no fun. It draws focus away from positive reinforcement towards reasons why they can’t succeed at running. If they use association too much when they run, they pay too much attention on negative input and feelings – such as slowness, difficult breathing, or pain in the feet.

In order to succeed in gaining more running experience, beginning runners need to disassociate, which means to use the mind to override negative input and concentrate on more positive thoughts instead.

Disassociation is a most effective technique for motivating beginner runners. To practice disassociation while you are running, imagine that everything you see and hear passing by is a colorful DVD that you are watching at home. Pay attention to the appealing sights and sounds around you – beautiful flowers, interesting cars and buildings, pleasant landscapes – and let these images flow through your mind. If you are out running with other people, you can also mentally focus on the other runners, noticing their clothes or shoes or running styles.

The technique of disassociation is one of the best running tips for beginners to help open up your mind to the environment around you. It helps beginning runners to focus less on the negative aspects they are experiencing and to focus on more pleasant aspects. Disassociation also works wonderfully for more experienced runners who want to slow down, relax, and keep running for a longer period of time.

This is a guest post article written by Anna, writer and treadmill tester for RunReviews, a project dedicated to treadmill reviews.

Shedding a few extra pounds and staying in shape is a recurrent desire nowadays. And it’s only natural to want a toned and healthy body, and all the advantages that come with it, such as a beautiful, smooth skin and agility.

Increasing fitness levels and having a fit body shouldn’t be such a hard thing to do. Motivation should be the only sine-qua-non ingredient, and the rest should come easily. But it’s not always like that, especially in the big cities where you must hunt parks or other appropriate environments for walking or running. This is time consuming, we all know it.

But let’s take it gradually. First you need to know why walking and running are so good for fitness. The answers are instinctively simple. Most important, walking and running provide amazing cardiovascular workout. Secondly, they help you strengthen your muscles and are great for toning. Third of all, these two activities help you lose those extra pounds and build up the body you dream about. Overall, walking and running challenge the body and increase fitness level while maintaining a consistent workout routine.

So, what is the solution to the problem often found in big cities where running and walking surfaces are so hard to find?

My answer is: Treadmills.

The treadmill represents an advantageous mean of working out while enjoying media entertainment. There are many pros that make the treadmill both efficient and enjoyable. Firstly, you will never have to worry about the weather. Either it’s a too hot summer day or a cruel winter evening, you can equally enjoy your walks and runs. Then you are better protected from injuries with treadmills’ advanced cushion system. Most treadmills incorporate adjustable cushion systems that reduce impact on joints and ankles with ~30% more than outside running.

Another plus I consider is that motivation is easier to stay up with different gadgets found on treadmills. And I don’t lose focus that easy because the workouts I pre-set impose my rhythm. I have to keep up.

Actually the workouts are the detail that makes the treadmill a valuable fitness tool.

When it comes to treadmills, you can choose from a various workouts selection. You can go for walking/ running programs, aerobic workouts or programs specifically designed for fitness enhancement. The good thing is that on reliable treadmills you enter your age, gender and weight so that feedback received during workout is as accurate as possible. This way you’ll know what you have to do next in order to improve your performance.

The great thing about treadmills is that you follow workout feedback right away on the console display, such as distance, time, speed, burned calories and so on. This creates a feeling of accomplishment, especially when you start improving your time, speed and burned calories.

These being said, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that treadmills are a useful tool that you shouldn’t ignore if you want to have a beautiful body. Living in a big city and having no time are not an excuse anymore.

If you are tired of the same old running program? Are you seeking a little spice and variety? Then Andre Kaokane of Cross Country Running Shoes 101 thinks that you should take a look at cross country. Cross country running is a popular sport that is growing fast all across the world. It started in England as a team sport, but today is practiced by runners of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels.

A big reason for its growing popularity is the variety of courses used for races and training. If running in circles around a track is not for you, then you should definitely give cross country a try! Besides hills and streams, you might come across grassy fields, beautiful forests, sand dunes, logs, or the occasional animal wandering past. You will certainly find it much more interesting than the treadmill. And don’t forget to bring a good pair of trail shoes.

There are also many different course lengths available, depending on ability and age group. Some courses cover only one mile (usually kids races), while others might stretch for nine or ten miles. Usually, all racers run on the same course at the same time. However, in a relay race, each runner on the team runs one at a time, and the courses can cover a hundred miles or more!

Some of the greatest distance runners on the track also were great champions in cross country. Paul Kibii Tergot won the IAAF Cross County Championship five years in a row – the first man to ever accomplish that feat. Likewise, the Norwegian Grete Waitz was the first woman to win the Championship for five consecutive years. She went on to compete in the marathon in the 1984 Olympics.

The great Steve Prefontaine started out in Coos Bay, Oregon, as a high school cross country runner. He later was the NCAA cross country champion three times from 1970-1973, then continued on to the University of Oregon where he dazzled the track world with his accomplishments.

Whether you are drawn to cross country for the personal challenge, the thrill of competition, or just the enjoyment of running with like-minded people in the beautiful outdoors – you should lace up a good pair of cross country running shoes, and give it a try!

One of the hardest areas of the body to really isolate and develop is the lower abs. Sculpting a six pack requires working the every part of your abs including the bottom half. Nothing shows your fitness level like a strong lower core. Most people will be able to develop their upper abs without too much difficulty but the real challenge it tightening the lower half. Not only do you need to build the muscle you will also need to lose body fat to reveal your chiseled core.

This best lower ab workout out there. If you are ready to get serious about your six pack you must us this routine. It doesn’t require fancy equipment or gym memberships. I typically workout out at home with a compact home gym.

Before explain these 3 killer lower ab exercises, it is important that you understand some basics facts about training the lower core. Exercise alone will not be enough.

You need to lose fat all over your body and not just on your midsection. The key to weight-loss is high intensity weightlifting and high intensity cardio sessions. You will also need to eat right. This means no fast food. Lots of water and about 6 meals a day. Eating more smaller healthy meals will keep your metabolism constantly going.

Your first step to a strong core losing those few extra pounds and getting your body fat down into single digits. Abdominal lower ab circuit training will be your best and most efficient way to build a great lower core.

Here are some of the best lower ab exercises to try:

1. Alternating Supine Leg Walks- contract the midsection and hold your legs still about a foot off the ground and hold it.

2. Supine Reverse Crunches- laying on your back bend your knees and keeping the bent raise them to your chest.

3. Leg Lifts-laying flat on your back keep your hands straight and lift your legs straight up in the air.

Do as many repetitions or hold it for as long as you can for 30 seconds. After you finish all three repeat is at least three more times.

These three exercises are a nonsense straight to the core exercises. With proper dieting and consistency you will be showing off your washboard in no time. Good luck, and remember to keep learning and stay persistent. Find great deals on fitness equipment at Homegymmachinesdirect.com

Here are five questions frequently asked by beginning runners:

How fast should I run?

The short answer is: pretty slow! As a beginner, you will gain the most benefit from easy running, This is also called “conversational pace” because it means going at a speed that you can carry on a conversation while you run.

Don’t go too fast, because you are just getting started. You are still building your base endurance and strength. You will need a good base to be able to run injury-free for a long time. Later on you will be able to work on speed, if that is one of your goals.

How far should I run?

The question here is not how far to run, but for how long. As a beginner, you want to focus on running regularly for a certain period of time. It doesn’t matter at all how far you go.

This is why following a program can help to keep you on track. You start by alternating walking and running for about fifteen minutes, and gradually increase the amount of time each week. You can find a good starter program here at Running Tips 4 All.

Is it all right to stop and rest when I am running?

Absolutely! No one expects you to be able to run for fifteen minutes solid when you are first starting out. It’s just fine to switch from running to walking. Then you can go back to running when you feel like it. However you do want to keep moving – try not to sit down, and keep walking if you can.

Most programs for beginners are set up to alternate between walking and running. As you progress in the program, you will discover that you are able to run more and walk less. But always remember the first question, and keep it slow!

Do I need special shoes or clothes?

For right now, if you have some sneakers and socks, pants or shorts, and an old shirt, you are ready to hit the road! However, having good running shoes is very important to your safety and comfort. So your first running gear purchase should be the right type of shoes for your feet. When you are ready, you should visit a specialty running shoe store, where they can determine your foot type and fit you with the correct type of shoes.

Is there anything else I should know before I start?

Stop if you feel pain! Running should not be painful. If you have any concerns or questions about your ability to run, you should discuss them with your doctor, especially if you have health issues such as heart problems or overweight. Be safe, not sorry!

Otherwise just take it one step at a time. Go easy, have fun, find a running buddy, and you will find that your enthusiasm will grow with each passing week.

With warmer weather coming, people think about going to the beach and the pool. It is also around this time that many will start to think about those winter pounds they have packed on. Instead of rushing to the treadmill or stair climber to shed some extra weight, add a gym sport to your routine.

Racquetball is one of the most popular gym sports and it is a great, fun workout. For those unfamiliar with racquetball, it is very much like tennis but enclosed in a rectangular room where the object of the game is to hit it off of the wall instead of to the other side of a net. The racquet is slightly smaller and squatter and the ball is smaller and faster. It is a fantastic aerobic exercise, as you are constantly moving around to chase after the ball. Your legs, arms and shoulders get an amazing workout while you are burning lots of calories.

If your gym has a pool, there are several different ways to burn calories. Water aerobic classes are a surprisingly effective way of working your body without putting excess pressure on your joints. You could also inquire if members of your gym play water polo or even water volleyball. Some gyms will set up small leagues or the members themselves will sometimes take it upon themselves.

Another gym sport to consider is the always popular basketball. Some gyms will have indoor courts that you can readily incorporate into your workout, but you may have to pursue outdoor courts, which is fine for this time of year. The important thing is to have fun while losing weight instead of tolling away for hours on an exercise bike or elliptical machine. Gym sports are great fat burners. For more information, check out The Gym Sports Site.

Usual scene

Checking an average individual’s daily priority list would reveal the workout routines at the very base, which means, at the end of the day. And this is why there are more obese people around than not. Depleted energy levels being a major cause, it’s not only workouts but any activity entered into the same slot is bound being greeted with a hell lot of sluggishness and irregularity. This is what people mostly cover up with excuses (the most common one is – “it’s boring”); it makes them feel better against their incapability of not being able to stick to the routines.

The other part is choosing an inappropriate cardio exercise routine that fails to generate interest. And nobody can do something unless he or she looks forward to a particular thing. The result? The feeling of “couldn’t do it today also” in the subconscious often aggravates depression, which further takes its tolls on the other aspects of life. Workouts are not only exercises meant for the body; it is for the mind as well. Else, the word psychosomatic wouldn’t have had seen the daylights.

At the end, it’s the sheer lack of results that drives the last nail in.

Fun in exercises

There had been instances of the heart ruling out the brain, possibly, with every individual in this world. Avoiding workout routines is one fine example of such preset psychological patterns set through environmental conditioning. Monotony is what a normal human is averse to; this is why loners (unless by choice) often fail to maintain the regime. They are happy, those who could make it.

Straining each and every part of the body with a little extra emphasis towards the zones more prone to gather the bulk gives a sort of high to certain body compositions; these are them who take exercise as fun. It requires, though, changing the perspectives a bit; making exercises as enticing as comfortably sipping on a drink is all about aligning the mind with the body’s preferences.

So exercising secretly and then stunning all near and around with the newfound glory is advised against unless backed by a very strong willpower. It must be enough to overcome the “I don’t feel like it today” syndrome and turn things to a habit and then, a necessity.

A gym (if not, a professional instructor) is what most need. That’s an essential step towards finding the fun in exercising.

Setting the goal

Fat burning exercises are initially different from the usual weights and machines. To start with, it’s freehand where reps are a priority (it makes up partly for inadequate intensities) and this is what brings in boredom. Machines and weights are at least, visually stimulating.

So dividing the day into various parts is the first step towards a successful and effective workout schedule. Monday to Sunday, every activity recorded from going to work till return. This helps in making up for lost hours, setting tasks together and putting new ones in the free time. And one slot every day belongs to workouts.

Working out is not starting bending the body one fine day. It requires a brief physical and psychological preparation to bring in as well the seriousness. Till that, no workout regime is good enough to bring in the change.

Cardio workouts on an elliptical machine give you more bang for your buck than a comparably priced treadmill. This is simply because you are working your upper body and arms along with your legs. Elliptical trainers are virtual no-impact machines, while treadmill manufacturers have recently worked to make their machines lower impact, there is still very little comparison.

For those who haven’t been on an elliptical cross trainer it can feel a bit unnatural. The truth is elliptical machines actually have more of a natural foot and leg motion than a treadmill. Seems unlikely and you may ask “how can walking or running on a treadmill be unnatural?” The answer is, the treadmill doesn’t allow you to work your hamstrings, because it keeps coming at you and your legs don’t have to pull you forward. If you spend a lot of time running on a treadmill and then switch to running outside, it will be very clear to you, because you are working your legs harder.

Many don’t realize that you can also use an elliptical for a great abs exercise; all that you need to do is engage your abs during your workout. Yes, you can use a treadmill for an abs exercise as well but, this is easier said than done because it is very unnatural to do an entire cardio workout while flexing your abdominal muscles. So this will take some getting used to. With an elliptical cross trainer, you’re lower or no-impact motion allows you to keep your abs flexed the entire time. Try it the next time you’re in the gym.

Something else you might like to know about elliptical cross trainers is that they actually have been shown in a study to burn more calories than the level of effort requires. This is because your body perceives an elliptical as an easy workout even though you are actually working hard.

Those that are looking to lose weight in a rapid amount of time should look towards extreme fitness training workouts as the solution to their woes. There are two key ways to burn fat and get into
great shape. You need to build lean muscle mass and you have to burn up a great deal of calories.

Lifting heavy weights through extreme fitness training will dramatically increase your metabolism.
Muscle needs to ‘feed’ off of calories in order to maintain its size and shape. By greatly expanding your muscle mass, you will see your stored fat cells diminish greatly.

In terms of burning calories, every 3600 calories you burn, you will end up losing one pound of body fat. This is why it is so necessary to look towards an extreme fitness training program. 3600 is a significant number of calories. A low or medium intensity workout will not deliver the results you need. You have to move things into high gear in order to target such stored fat.

Does that mean you can launch an Extreme Fitness training program if you have never worked out before? No, you will need to take things somewhat slow at first. As soon as your cardio, strength, and endurance increases, you can then shift gears and take part in a much more impactful and high intensity workout.

Once you do develop the baseline level of conditioning to take part in such workouts, you will need to put forth the effort required. This will lead to a massive amount of fat loss in a relatively short period of time. In addition to fat loss, you will discover your physique becomes quite muscled and ripped. That is certainly a positive development.

The bottom line is you want to change your physique to the best of your ability. Taking part in the proper intensity level required to deliver the proper results.

These eight weight loss tips have helped me a lot in the past, I thought it would be time to share.

Reduce the number of hours you spend sitting at the table. As a rule of thumb, any meal should not last more than two hours, especially if it is a dinner. In this respect, food is like alcohol: if you eat over a higher number of hours, you will be able to increase the intake considerably. Conviviality is a great thing, but these kinds of meals should remain the exception and not become the rule.

Reduce the number of course. In other words: skip the appetizers if you can, as they are treacherous. They come in small portions so they seem harmless, but the more appetizing they are, the more calories they have. Even vegetables, if they are cooked or dressed with a lot of oil can be very heavy.

Avoid double and triple portions. This is why a meal at the restaurant is better than one at a friend’s place. When you are home, there is no bill to pay, and there is always something that needs to be finished.

Eating competitions are stupid. There is no prize if you try all the liquors, meats and cheeses you see on the table, except a larger waist.

Avoid useless calories, like bread between one course and the other, sweetened drinks, alcohol at every meal, too abundant side-dishes. These are foods that add nothing to the pleasure of a god meal but will dramatically increase the calories intake.

Food has to be enjoyable, fill your stomach and not to have too many calories. You will probably find no food with all these qualities at the same time, so try and go for the best compromise. Te best weight-loss food is good but healthy.

Do not finish the food of other people at your table. Teach your son or your partner how not to waste food, rather than becoming their food bin.

Do not finish all the sauce or the dressing on the dish. Most of the calories of high-calorie foods will stay on your dishes if you resist the temptation of cleaning it all with a piece of bread.

In order to remain fit and healthy, exercising should be an important part of our daily life. Exercising is not only a way to lose weight and look good, it will also protect us against heart disease, Alzheimer disease and even cancer. You don’t have to become a professional athlete, but regular exercising will help you to stay fit and feel more healthy. You also don’t have to go to expensive gyms in order to exercise, nowadays you can do this in your own home with the proper equipment.

The electric treadmill has proven to be one of the most popular piece of fitness equipment that people like to have in their homes. Running is something we can all do because it is so easy and the best part is that it is also very effective in order to stay fit. Running for as much as 15 minutes a day can be enough if you do it on a regular base. If you are just starting out than it is very important not to overdo it at the start. Try to keep yourself on a schedule where you will slowly increase the speed and distance that you run every day. Needless to say that you will burn more calories when you run really fast compared to when you are jogging. On average you will burn 168 calories every 15 minutes that you are exercising on your treadmill.

If you have never used a treadmill than it is best to get familiar with the control panel first. Get used to how you can increase and decrease the speed and also how you can switch the machine off. There are different screens you can select that will all show some extra details like running speed, time, distance and how much calories you already burned. Choose the one that provides the information you want to see.

Once you get comfortable with the usage of the machine now you can start actually using it. Very important is to warm up the muscles by doing a little bit of stretching. If you don’t do a warm up than you will increase the chance on injuries. Once you are warmed up you can now decide for your daily goal, how long do you want to run, how fast and how far? At first you should try a low speed and see how long you can keep up with it. Try to run for 1 or 2 miles, once you improve your stamina you can increase distance and speed.

15 Minutes has proven to be enough but if more exercising is off course always better. Ideally you would increase your exercising to 3 times a week and make sessions of at least 30 minutes. You will notice that it gets more easy very rapidly and in time it can even become addictive. Even if you don’t like exercising you can also watch television when you are on your electric treadmill.

If you want a little bit more from a home treadmill, you need to look further than the low-end models you’ll usually find on the showrooms of stores like Big Five, Sports Authority, etc. While those treadmill types are fine for light cardio use in the home, they’ll fall apart quickly if used for more strenuous activities and longer runs. If you’re the type of runner who competes in marathons, for instance, you’re going to need a treadmill that will allow you to keep up a strong pace, as well as one that won’t fall apart only a couple months into use.

The ProForm “Power” series of treadmills has gained a lot of good press in recent years, and is worth a look if you’re serious about having a good treadmill in your home. ProForm is a rather new company, but their offerings have been relatively strong. New on the market for 2010 is the ProForm Power 995, which is one of the highest-end models the company is putting out this year. This treadmill is specifically designed for the runner who needs speed; it’s equipped with a massive 3.5 horsepower motor that blows the rest of the competition out of the water (most other home treadmills have 2.0-3.0 horsepower motors). 3.5 is definitely getting into gym-quality territory.

The Power 995 has a large number of built-in programs, and comes equipped with the iFIT Live program. iFIT Live is a very interesting program that allows for your treadmill to communicate wirelessly with the internet. It’ll download any number of tracks and trails from all around the world, then will allow you to simulate running/walking on them by changing incline and speed. This may seem like a little bit of a gimmick, but this functionality adds a great amount of flexibility to your workout regimen.

You’ll be happy to note that you can find this treadmill for relatively little money. A number of cheap ProForm treadmills for sale can be found at all sorts of online dealers, particularly Amazon. Give them a look.

If you are looking for a great home workout, then look no further than lap swimming pools. There may not be a better type of exercise when you consider all the effects on your body (cardio, muscular, joints, bones, etc.) than swimming – the problem is that many people do not have time or are not close enough to a public or private pool where they can swimming laps easily or effectively (i.e. without having tons of kids get in your way).

However, with a lap pool at home this become very easy. In fact, there are even many different types of pools that can work, so no matter where you live or what your requirements are, you will be able to find a pool that will fit your situation. One such example is with indoor lap swimming pools. These are relatively newer inventions that allow you to swim year round inside the comfort of your own home. And, some of these pools are not only what is called ‘endless’ pools, but they can also double as a spa!

Another option is simply using your traditional home swimming pool as a lap pool. Obviously you may have to compete with the kiddos, but you don’t have to spend the extra money for an additional pool. If this is the option you are thinking about, then I would recommend you go with a square or rectangular shaped pool, since those are the best for swimming laps. However, if you want a relatively cheap option, then you could do a simple above ground lap pool. These do not cost as much as the indoor lap pools or full sized pools, but still let you exercise with laps the way you want to.

No matter what your fitness goals, you should be able to find a good lap swimming pool that fits your needs and wants, and you should even be able to find one that fits into your budget.

Reading GPS watch reviews online can help consumers make an educated decision before investing in such a timepiece. GPS timepieces are not only convenient in case one gets lost, but many offer additional features, including distance tracking for fitness enthusiasts. These watches can be a beneficial tool to aid in weight loss and getting in shape.

These watches can help walkers or runners track how far they have gone or even what their speed is at a particular moment in time. In the past, exercise gurus have had to log their activities on paper or not at all in order to track how their weight loss or other fitness goals were progressing. Now, a GPS watch can allow the athlete to compare this information from day to day right on their watch. Users can view the watch to see if their fitness level is consistent and in what areas they need to improve.

Someone looking to lose weight can use a GPS watch to make sure they are reaching or maintaining a level of activity that is conducive to their goals. Some watches even monitor the amount of calories burned during an activity, which can be of great use to a dieter. Watches like these can map out routes that an athlete takes, which can be helpful when running in an unfamiliar location or hiking to keep fit. Some watches go even further and offer altitude measurements.

Many different companies sell GPS enabled watches. One can even find a watch in a color that suits their persona, such as a yellow watch for a sunny personality.

The Internet is a convenient place to start a search for a GPS wristwatch. GPS Running Watch Review is a unique site that has unbiased information on several different types of watches, including GPS. This and other sites offer useful GPS watch reviews for the general public.

If you are someone who is looking to build a home gym, or add onto your existing home gym, or if you are looking to simply get a few essential home fitness tools, then you should strongly consider purchasing the powerblock adjustable dumbbell set. There are several good reasons why this fitness equipment makes sense in either of the above situations.

First, the powerblock dumbbell set is great in that it does not take up nearly as much space as an equal set of traditioanl dumbells would take up. This is a huge advantage for a home gym in that with home gyms you don’t have much space to begin with, let alone enough space for a huge dumbbell set and rack. With adjustable dumbbells you only need a very small 3 feet area to store them in, and with the Powerblocks you can get a good, compact rack to hold them.

Second, even though a good set of Powerblocks will cost around $300, you will still end up saving money when you compare the cost against a full set (5 lbs to 50 lbs) of traditional or hex dumbbells. At an average of $1 per pound (which is a average, reasonable price for free weights) you would spend over $500 on a comparable set of dumbbells. That is a $200 savings – and you save space as well.

Finally, switching weights with the Powerblock set is very easy, and the build quality of the product is truly second to none. There are no moving parts with this set, and as such it’s easy to adjust the weights. Even more importantly, however, is the fact that you can very easily change how much weight you are lifting, without having to walk all over the place like you do with hex sets.

As you can see, investing in a good set of powerblock adjustable dumbbells would be a very smart move for anyone looking to get started with a great home gym.

Nike is generally regarded as “the” mens trainers company. However, many people are actually unaware of where the company got its start and the general misconception is that Michael Jordan made the company what it is today. While he obviously played a big part in their success, they were well on their way before he ever came into the picture.

Nike was actually started as another company in 1966, Blue Ribbon Sports. Initially, they were nothing more than a distributor, but that would change in just a few short years. They ended up separating from their original ties and decided to launch their own line of footwear. The infamous “Swoosh” made its first appearance in 1971 and was registered as their trademark in 1974.

The actual name was the first label that was used for their very first shoe, a soccer shoe. The “Nike” was released in 1971 and Blue Ribbon Sports officially changed their name over to their trademark in 1978. From that moment on, BRS would be known as Nike, Inc.

Nike quickly realized that the best way to get people to buy their mens nike trainers was to have athletes market them. Their first signing was Ilie Nastase and they never looked back. The company started to grow like wildfire and by 1980, they were enjoying an incredible 50% share of the market. By 1982, Nike seemed to be everywhere that you looked and the advertising campaign that was put together was sheer genius.

“Just Do It” made its first appearance in 1988 and has stuck with the company as their slogan ever since. Nike has absolutely owned the industry since that time and has expanded out into just about every sport imaginable. The marriage between Nike and Tiger Woods has now made them one of the premier manufacturers of not only golf wear and shoes, but also equipment. Rest assured that every list or conversation that involves sportswear will involve the Nike name.

They help you keep a grip in poses that are prone to sliding because of where your weight is resting. And in cool down poses, they provide a comfortable cushion for the spine and head. Also, the personal space of the yoga mat gives you some reference for alignment and can help you stay centered.

Pilates. Pilates is similar to yoga, but newer and arguably more intense (and less reflective). As with yoga, Pilates often has you staying in one place and moving your body various ways, so using a fitness mat gives you a comfortable place to stay while doing the exercises. The grip also helps you stay on task without slipping, especially since you’re probably sweaty while you exercise anyway.

Daily exercises. It doesn’t take a DVD or certified fitness instructor to reap the simplest benefits from a fitness mat. Use it in the morning or before you go to bed to do push ups, sit ups, crunches, leg lifts, and other traditional exercises. It gives you a nice clean place to focus your attention, and provides a nice cushion for your head, back, hips, hands, or whichever parts touch the floor in the various exercises you can do.

Work out at work. It may not seem like the right time or place, but work is actually a great place to get fit. Fitness mats are very portable, so you can bring yours to work whenever you like. Devoting a portion of your lunch hour or even a few minutes during a morning or afternoon break, is a great opportunity to wake your body up from the time it spends sitting at your desk.

These are just a few. The purposes a fitness mat can serve are as diverse as the people who use them. Be creative, and adapt it to best meet your own fitness, space, and scheduling needs.

According to the NSCA exercise routines for women do not need to vary in their intensity or mode of execution from men’s. The bottom line is the relative strength and endurance of a woman is equivalent to or greater than a man’s as it relates to composition of body mass.

With this in mind, a woman can take advantage of any exercise routine available and receive benefits when the right principles are applied. As with any person starting out, women should have a physical before starting an exercise regimen.

F.I.T.T. stands for:

Frequency: How many times a week the routine is performed.

Intensity: The effort as defined by percentage of VO2 max for cardiovascular exercise, or percentage of 1 repetition maximum for strength exercises.

Time: The length of the exercise routine.

Type: The mode of exercise. For example, weight training, Zumba, running, etc.

To outline this principle in a routine, examine the following for a beginner in reasonable health, with no underlying medical issues:

Warm-up: Light jogging at conversational pace, indoors or out. 10 minutes.

Workout: Continue jogging at double the pace, (easily measured on a treadmill, timed with a watch outdoors.)

Dumbbell Clean and Jerk: Using two moderate weight dumbbells, squat down and clean them from the floor to shoulders, then press them out overhead as you stand up.

To take this light workout and apply the F.I.T.T. principle we can say the following:

Frequency: 3x/week.
Intensity: Jogging: Conversational pace for warm up, then 75% of VO2 max (a steady run.)
Time: Warm up 10 minutes; Run for 20; weights for 3-4 sets of 10-12.
Type: Aerobic and anaerobic (running and weights.)

This is a basic routine, which develops many large muscle groups and improves cardiovascular fitness. Apply the F.I.T.T. principle and adjust the parameters as your fitness increases.

Let us apply the F.I.T.T. principle to another routine, this one more advanced.

Warm-up:
Light jogging, 10 minutes.
Lightweight barbell circuit, performed at an easy pace.

6x each:
-Deadlift
-Bent-over row
-High pull from ground
-Back squat

Then, do 3 sets of 6x each of the same routine (deadlift, row, high pull, squat,) using 65% of 1 repetition maximum. Perform exercises back-to-back. Rest 2-3 minutes between each set.

Finish: Run 5K at fastest pace possible.

Cool down: 1-mile walk and stretching.

Using F.I.T.T.:

Frequency: 3x/week
Intensity: 65% of 1 RM; fastest pace possible or 90-95% VO2 maximum.
Time: 60-90 minutes.
Type: Cardiovascular/Interval strength training/ cardiovascular.

Listen to your body and slow down when you need to, this alone prevents most injuries.

Many people prefer working out at home rather than in a gym. This is understandable as often the gym will not be very close to your house. However most people have no idea what equipment to use at home. In this article i will answer some of the most frequently asked questions about Home Fitness Equipment.

How do i start?
OK so you need some equipment for each part of your fitness workout. Firstly you are going to need to warmup. For a warmup you can use a jump rope or you can just go for a short 5 minute jog. If money is no issue you can search for treadmills for sale in the local newspaper. Elliptical machines are also great machines for cardio training and help with your warmup.

What equipment do i need to get stronger?
You need to be lifting weights. So for home you would need a weight bench or some kind of home gym system that has lots of resistance. Your muscles will only get strong with resistance. Keep increasing your weight or resistance when it gets too easy

How do i get a flat stomach?
This is the goal of many people going to the gym. If you look on TV you will see many promises of fast and easy ways to lose fat. The truth is that it takes time and dedication. You need to exercise your abs to get strong ab muscles but you also need to decrease you bodyfat percentage to a low amount. If you dont do this all the ab exercises in the world wont give you a six pack stomach. Diet is very important for this.

There are many different fad diets and exercise machines that you see on television. If the claims seem amazing and too good to be true, they often are. Stick with the above equipment to start, exerxise 4-5 times a week . Keep your diet clean and healthy, drink lots of water and you will see a huge difference in not only your appearance but your mood and overall health.

Perhaps you are unable to sleep like I am and your awake at 4am when the air climber system informercial hits the screen. At first it may sound and look just like every other informercial but as you pay attention you realize that is its a revolutionary product. Most infomercial products are not useful, and so obscure its a wonder how someone could come up with it. With the air climber however, the idea has been there for years with the stair master, but Brenda Dygraf perfected the method and made it smaller than ever. With only two steps and a power knob to adjust resistance, its totally unlike the traditional stair steppers.

When you open the air climber exercise machine you are greeted with a dvd set, a nutritional guide, and the product itself. The dvd set is what truly sets this product apart from similar products on the market. With product developer and fitness trainer brenda dygraf on your television screen, you are given a set of workouts that are sure to keep you busy and entertained all at the same time. The nutritional plan is also helpful considering the fact that you cannot loose weight and get fit if you are not eating properly.

From a body standpoint the air climber is a solid product from the idea that it is much easier on the hips and knees than jogging is, and is much easier on the lower back than biking is. For that reason many people have found it easier and more enjoyable to workout with the air climber as opposed to traditional exercise devices. Other than that, it should be noted that the machine wont exercise itself. For users to see results they must adhere to the diet program as well as use the device several times per week for at least twenty minutes.

Are you a skinny guy or gal who finds it difficult to tone your body and build muscles? Well, muscle building for skinny people is actually not that hard. All you need is the proper understanding of the critical factors involved regarding your body type and once you are armed with that information, you can immediately bulk up fast! Here are some important tips that you need to bear in mind. Read on!

Metabolism – Skinny guys typically have a very fast metabolism. This high metabolic rate is the reason why you stay thin and find it difficult to develop muscle mass. Why? Well, to put it simple, you burn fats at a much faster rate even if you are not exerting that much effort. Your metabolism burns your intake of calories so fast that it does not give your muscles enough time to absorb the nutrients from the foods that you consume and the energy to repair and rebuild themselves.

Rest – Many skinny people have this wrong notion that exercising more will help them develop their muscles. The real key if you want to develop your muscles is for you to provide your body with ample rest so that your muscles will properly grow. Over training yourself will only hamper your muscles from growing. What you can do instead is to give your body the right foods and provide it with enough rest, so it would be easier for your body to absorb and use the calories and nutrients you take in since it is during your rest and recovery period is when your muscle are actually growing. Nutrients – The quality of foods is more important rather than the quantity of foods that you consume. You need nuts, rice, soy, beans and other foods which are packed with protein and carbohydrates if you want to build muscle. You need to create and eat a well balanced diet that consists of the two important components which are carbs and protein.

One of the biggest challenges facing the western world at the moment is health problems associated with obesity. Increasingly, it is younger people and even children who are becoming obese, as fast foods win out over a healthy and well balanced diet. This is exacerbated by the endless creep of technology into people’s leisure time. Even just a decade or two ago, kids would be out on their bikes or skateboards, learning new tricks and jumps, and importantly, burning off some of those extra calories. But nowadays, it is a case of floping down in front of the TV, or gaming on the computer until the early hours.

A great way to return to fitness and have fun at the same time is to get involved playing soccer. For smaller kids, it is a low contact sport, and for this reason might appeal more than American football. The only initial investment is buying a ball, and then getting on with it. Soccer is 90 minutes of non-stop running (if you play the game properly) combining both stamina training – like you would get from jogging – and the more explosive strength training from all the “stop-start” movements and changes in direction needed to keep up with the game. Soccer training is also a fantastic way to build teamwork and cameraderie between children, when they might otherwise simply keep to themselves, choosing to lock themselves in their room playing on the computer.

If the aim is to build a team with the hope of playing more competitively in amateur leagues, then the next expense would be a set of soccer goals. These range in price depending on how big you want them, how sturdy and what materials they are made from. You should be able to get a pair of fold-up portable indoor soccer goals fairly cheaply; these will do for a start. You may even decide to dispense with having nets in them at the beginning. That way, if a goal is scored, somebody has to go and fetch the ball – even more exercise, and a reason to defend the goal better in future!

Having moved into your new home, you are going to be looking into building a home gym. When you are actually looking for fitness equipment, you will find out how expensive it is. As you are going to be spending a lot of money, you want to be sure that everything you buy is of high quality. Should you choose the cheaper ranges, they could work out fairly well for you. Before shopping, you need to determine, “What home gym equipment do I need?“ This will help you to narrow down exactly what you need, so you don’t buy extra stuff that you can’t afford and that won’t fit, and also won’t be used. By this time you will probably think again and decide to stick with the gym pass, as everything will seem too expensive. But be determined, as you can find out some excellent bargains on new and used gym equipment.

I can tell you of many places that can sell affordable gym equipment, that you can buy. The first place to investigate are garage sales. Generally, equipment owners will be ready for a quick sale because they are no longer using the workout machines. Or they may have bought a new piece of equipment and they need to dispose of the old one, as there is not enough room. Most people want to dispose of bulky equipment rapidly, so they make accept far less then what they bought it for. So bring down the price by haggling, and remove it the same day.

Craigslist is another reliable source of buying cheap used equipment. You can check it out yourself in the fitness section and could get some really good bargains. Instead of running around from garage sale to garage sale, let your fingers do the walking and take the hassle out of shopping for your gym workout system. Craigslist usually has pictures of the best home gym equipment. Once again you can bring down the price for a quick sale. It always helps if you have transportation ready to take the item home. If you are not fully prepared then someone might step in and buy it before you do anything. The other reason that you should go through Craigslist is that you can see the workout equipment before and test it to make sure it’s working properly. This way you will cut out any errors and be happy with whatever your purchased.
