stress

You’ve heard it many times, “Relax! Take a deep breath.” Well, deep breathing can actually help you to relax and can also help you to be healthier. When you take a few deep breaths in a row you are actually causing physical changes in your body. Deep breathing quickly brings more oxygen into your system and begins to bring balance to your acid/alkaline levels in your body immediately. As you exhale deeply you release much of the carbon dioxide from your body, so just by adding a few more molecules of oxygen, you begin a chain of events that can make you healthier.

One of these changes is that by balancing the acid/alkaline level (pH level) you are creating a system where disease causing organisms do not grow or reproduce well. They seem to prefer a higher level of acid to continue with their disease causing agenda; so, merely breathing deeply and exhaling deeply 3-5 times in a row a few times a day can keep you healthier and keep you more relaxed.

When more oxygen is introduced into your system it begins to oxidize stored fat so that it breaks down faster, and many people could benefit from less fat. Too much fat stores in all of the wrong places, such as around the organs, so that they have to work harder to do the work that they are meant to do. Again, just the relaxation technique of deep breathing can keep you healthier, by balancing your pH levels and helping to break down fat, but there is more….

As you use relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, listening to soft music, taking a walk outside in a beautiful place, etc. your blood vessels, and muscles that squeeze them, also relax so that blood is pumped more easily through blood vessels that are not tightened from stress. In the relaxed state high blood pressure can become more normal.

If relaxation techniques were practiced more often, perhaps there would be no high blood pressure. We tend to live in an extremely stressful world. We seem to be stressed when we get up in the morning, all day long, and when we go to bed at night. Then we wonder why we feel so bad all of the time, and why we keep gaining weight, and why we have high blood pressure.

Physically, chemical changes take place to improve your health when you practice relaxation techniques; so, it is very important to use them daily to help you with stress relief and to maintain a more relaxed state so that you can be healthier in your stress-filled world.

Miracle of Massage

by admin on April 4, 2010

Are you one of the millions who try and convince themselves that a few hours in front of the television in the evening is a good way to unwind from the day’s stressors? Is it that you really believe this to be true or have you just fallen into a rut and have forgotten what it is to honestly feel good?

We live in a non-stop world where we are bombarded with distractions and stimulation 24 hours a day. Multi-tasking has become a standard entry on most resumes and is seen as a plus in the ideal employee rather than the fact that it actually reduces performance and competency levels and increases stress. Most people have become so used to carrying near-debilitating tension that they no longer consider it abnormal.

The truth, however, is that we are not designed for the pace we are desperately trying to maintain. Our “fight or flight” mechanisms are stuck in the on position and it is taking a deadly toll on our bodies, not to mention our mental and emotional states. Since there’s not always an option in what we are forced to deal with, the next best thing is to eliminate stress before it has time to do more damage.

One of the absolute best ways to release stress is through one of the many massage techniques available today. Exercise and a healthy diet are essential for good health but when tension becomes chronic and is trapped in muscles and connective tissue throughout the body, it may be necessary to look for professional help. Nothing feels better than the relaxing strokes of a gentle Swedish massage but for more serious tension, the services of a deep tissue massage therapist may be more appropriate. Often combined with the increasingly popular hot stone massage, the deep tissue techniques focus on breaking up of knots and adhesions that may have formed over time or through injury.

Whatever modality of massage you choose, the most important part is that you are taking action to release stress. The difference this can make in your life really can feel miraculous.

by admin on March 3, 2010

All people will feel anxious and stressed out at one point or the other. However, if you are experiencing what doctors refer to as panic attacks, then what you have is a truly serious problem. People who experience panic attacks on a regular basis will have symptoms like trembling, abdominal pain, dizziness, shortness of breath to name a few. There are even some who have gone to emergency rooms thinking that what they are having is actually a heart attack.

The physical signs and symptoms of anxiety attacks may not be that life threatening. However, such symptoms can leave a devastating impact in your life since they can keep you from driving a vehicle, being productive at school or work, interacting with other people and so on. Written in this article are a couple of ways that can help you in terms of controlling panic attacks. Read on further to find out what they are.

1.) Single-Out the Possible Triggers – Each person is an individual. With that said, the things that might be triggering the attacks may vary from one person to the other. Try to identify what is causing the onset of attacks, so you could steer away from them or possibly prepare yourself beforehand, so you could better cope and deal with them.

2.) Learn Relaxation Methods – Yoga, breathing techniques, deep meditation can help you remain composed, focused and calm.

3.) Avoid Drinking Coffee – If your goal is to cure panic attack, stay away from diet pills, soda, coffee and other caffeinated beverages. Caffeine is considered a stimulant and can aggravate your CNS or central nervous system which can trigger the occurrence of an attack.

4.) Acquire Plenty of Rest – Not having enough shut eye can make you feel stressed out which in turn makes you more prone to having attacks.

5.) Workout Regularly – Exercising promotes the release of healthy endorphins into your bloodstream and will give you that natural sense of ecstasy. When you are happy, you limit the chances of attacks from occurring.
