Cooking quinoa has become more and more popular in the last few years. This is thanks to the good press that quinoa has gotten from health gurus and even NASA! Here are 10 ways that you can incorporate quinoa into your every day diet!
- Use quinoa in place of oatmeal in your morning cereal! Cook the quinoa in apple juice or almond milk. When your quinoa is almost done, add in some dried berries and slivered almonds. For an extra health boost add in some ground up flax seeds.
- Create an entire meal on your stove top. One of my all time favorite quinoa recipes comes from Tosca Reno’s eat clean diet cookbook. It is a stove top quinoa dish with onions, sundried tomatoes and cilantro. I add in low-fat turkey sausage for my must-have-meat husband, and even my picky 5 year old cheers when he finds out that we are having it for dinner.
- Make a dish your family will love! Try using quinoa in place of pasta in your favorite macaroni and cheese. Your children will never guess how healthy quinoa is!
- Make quinoa meatballs! Use cooked quinoa in place of breadcrumbs when making meatballs. This is sure to please even the pickiest of pre-schoolers.
- Make a quinoa salad! My favorite quinoa recipe is a greek quinoa salad with red peppers, olives, artichokes and feta. Top it with a zesty dressing and it is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
- Making meatloaf? Just like when you make quinoa meatballs substitute cooked quinoa for the breadcrumbs or oatmeal in your favorite meatloaf recipe.
- Use quinoa flour to make a healthy and protein rich bread!
- Make a desert! Quinoa can be used in fruit desserts or in bread pudding!
- Use quinoa in a soup or stew!
- Make quinoa stuffed red bell peppers!
