New Year is a good time for many people to make a fresh start and make some resolutions. This year I decided to look at my children’s health and how I could improve it. It actually came to mind after talking about those old TV adverts for the Jack Lalanne Juicer with friends at a party. It does not have to be New Year though. You can set any date to start a fresh and make important changes to you or your family’s life.
My main goal this year was to increase the amount of fruit and vegetables my children eat. No easy task but one I felt was really important, especially over the winter months when colds and viruses are in abundance. I wanted them to consume more fresh, organic produce. In their fresh form they contain a lot of minerals and vitamins with are vital to good health.
Getting kids to eat more fruit and vegetables is no easy task. I did find a solution, though, with juicing. This is great at making sure they benefit from all the nutritious properties of freshly squeezed juice. The different combinations you can make also stops them from getting bored.
The main benefits of juicing, for children are:
1. You can turn juice making into a fun event by involving your children. They can stand on a chair and push all the food through the juicer. They appreciate the drink more, that they have made themselves, and will drink it without any fuss. The dreaded clean up is quite simple and really only takes about ten minutes. Well worth it in my opinion.
2. A lot of children are not big veggie eaters, especially if they are anything like mine. Juicing provides the perfect solution for getting them to eat a wide range of different veggies in their raw fresh state. So they are getting more benefits than if the vegetables were cooked. This makes everyone in the home happier.
3. Do your children drink a lot of sodas? Mine certainly did, and if yours do, then you will finding juicing is the perfect solution. Drinking fresh juices will reduce the consumption of these drinks quite considerably. This is a good thing as they are just empty calories containing many additives. These can be responsible for childhood obesity and chronic illness later in life. Also, you will find you save money by not spending it on these drinks.
Have you made any goals for your children’s health this year? If not, then start juicing. If will really benefit their health for many years to come and is also a fun pastime that you can do with your children.
