Choosing Swimwear to Suit Your Shape

Shopping for a new swim suit can be every woman’s nightmare. It may be hard enough to hide lumps and bumps under regular clothing, but when wearing a swimsuit it seems practically impossible! There are however a few tricks you can use to make the most of your assets and hide those areas you are less proud of.

If you want to disguise your lower half, choose a two tone swim suit with a dark color on the bottom. This will help to reduce an ample bottom and hips. Choose a style with generously cut legs and avoid any ties or detailing on the hips which will draw attention to your bottom half. Boy short styles can be great at hiding big bottoms and thighs but may just accentuate the problem if your hips are also wide.

If you’re blessed with a large bosom, choose a supportive style of top with under wiring and thick straps. Swim suits for larger ladies often come in cup sizes and you should choose one that fits you as well as your bra. Avoid triangle style bikini tops, which you’ll probably be spilling out of and spaghetti style straps probably won’t provide the support you need. Halter neck styles can also help make the most of a great cleavage.

For the opposite problem, there are swimsuits available with extra padding for smaller busts strapless and bandeau styles can also look great on a small chest and you don’t really need straps to hold you up anyway. Also try a sweetheart or plunge neckline to give the illusion of cleavage.

If you’re pregnant you’ll want to invest in a specialist maternity swimsuit to fit your body properly and provide extra support. There are all sorts of styles available so if you want to disguise the jiggle on your thighs or make an ample bottom look smaller, the normal rules apply. Alternatively, if you’re happy with your body, a maternity bikini can look great and show off your cute bump.
