Colon Health: Get Your Diet Right!

The health of your colon is vital to the health of the rest of your body. Your coon is responsible for passing waste efficiently, but it also does so much more! One of the most important functions is to absorb vitamin, nutrients and minerals from food you eat, as well as water. Colon health problems can leave you feeling tired and listless besides just feeling blocked up!

I used to eat way too much fast food. I never gave much thought to foods to include in a healthy diet, and I felt the effects of that. I did some research online and found some of the healthiest foods to include in my daily diet. I selected foods that would give me excellent nutritional value and would also help to decrease my risk of getting heart disease, diabetes and cancer besides the obvious benefits for my digestive health! The following foods are all great things to include in your own colon cleansing diet.

Fruits are my number one choice for healthy foods. Apricots are my favorite. They have beta-carotene, which is helpful in preventing damage from free radicals. Beta-carotene is also turned into vitamin A by the body, and this can help to ward off skin cancer and other cancers as well. Apricots can be snacked on whole, or dried. They are best eaten fresh when they are still firm.

Avocados are an excellent food that I include in my daily diet. They contain oleic acid, which is an unsaturated fat that can help lower your overall cholesterol. It is also an excellent source of fiber, and it can help raise your level of good cholesterol. Sliced avocado is an excellent garnish for your burgers, instead of using mayonnaise.

Raspberries are great foods to include in a healthy diet. They contain ellagic acid, which helps stop the growth of cancer cells. They also have plenty of fiber and vitamin C, to help you prevent heart disease and high cholesterol. A cup of raspberries only has sixty calories, and raspberries taste really great on top of oatmeal, yogurt or cereal. Or, a handful of raspberries can make for a nutritious and tasty snack.
