Finding Happiness Through Self-Acceptance

It seems everyone is on the hunt for happiness; as if it is something one can wrangle up or find in the woods. The issue seems everyone wants a short cut to finding happiness in their life. Happiness cannot be purchased, won, or caught and the harder you try to find it, the more elusive it becomes. The reality is you do not find happiness, happiness find you.

The key to being happy is finding the inner peace which comes from living up to your ideal self. Think about what the perfect you would look like. Are you living up to that image or falling short? In order to know what we need to make us happy, we have to know ourselves completely. It’s nearly impossible to know what will make us happy if we don’t even know who we are.

The first step in finding happiness is taking a good look at how you view yourself. Learning how to listen to your inner voice and how it talks to you can tell you a lot about your level of inner peace. Without a sense of inner peace, it’s much harder to find true serenity in life no matter what it throws at you.

Learning to accept the consequences of being ourselves is an important step in getting happiness into our heart instead of just our mind. However, the process of self-acceptance can be a laborious journey but it can start with the right thinking. Many times our thinking needs more work than we realize. As we begin thinking more about happiness and what we want out of life, our goals can and will change to move us towards those things which make us happy.

Instead of asking ourselves how to find happiness, the real question we should be asking ourselves is how to find self-acceptance.
