Resistance tubes are a great addition to a workout, whether you exercise every day or are just trying to get yourself into the habit. One of the most versatile and affordable exercise items out there, resistance tubes really do have something to offer everyone.
What are resistance tubes? Well, much as the name implies, they are long tubes that offer resistance to being pulled. More specifically, they are jump rope type tubes that are pliable enough to be bent, stretched, looped, and pulled on in many different ways. Yet they also offer varying levels of resistance, so that you have to work harder to pull them. When you use resistance tubing in various exercises, you can work many different areas of your body.
Resistance tubes have two major advantages:
- Strengthening muscles. They do this by, of course, resisting the force you exert on them. They are a lot tougher than a rubber band to pull on, which means your muscles have to work to complete the motion you have set out to enact. As mentioned above, resistance tubes come at different levels of resistance, which means that you can start out easy if you haven’t been working with muscle strength, or you can have more resistance if your muscles already have a head start. - Burning fat. Resistance tubes do more than just add bulk (or tone) to your muscles. They also help you burn fat. Your body is a well-designed machine; when you have to use so much energy to do the exercises that build muscle, your body relies on its stores of energy (body fat) to power those motions. In addition, as your muscles become stronger, your body gets better at processing the energy and food that it intakes, so you not only burn fat by exercising during your workout itself, but may see benefits in your metabolism as well.
In general, resistance tubes are very lightweight, portable, and fairly low in price. They can be bought individually or in a set of multiple tubes, and also in more comprehensive workout sets along with other fitness items.
