One of the first things I like to recommend is that the addict gets rid of any empty pill containers. I know that I liked saving them to show off to others like they were trophies or something. We do not need them around to remind us of what we are missing because you will miss using them to change the way you feel for a while.

Another thing that has to go is all the people that you used with plus no more hanging at the bars because alcohol will only take you back to your drug of choice. I have tried to replace dilaudid with drinking alcohol. It did not work if it did it did not work long and I was back to my dilaudid addiction again.
If you think that you may have a problem with using dilaudid then there are a couple of options for you. One is to start attending 12 step meetings like your life depended on it because in all actuality it does. I suggest that you make the time to go to a meeting every day for a few months. This will start to get you on the right track and make your life worth living again. If meetings do not work for you the other option is going to dilaudid addiction treatment. There you can be medically detoxed from dilaudid. Which ever method you choose do not delay time is of the essence because addicts are dying every day from drug overdose.
