Keeping with your routine; vacation workouts

One of the main components of your health regime that will help you to  reach your fitness and weight loss goals is consistency. Your body needs time to adapt to regular activity, healthy eating, and a calorie deficit in order for some changes to be made. Two days of great eating and great exercise, and five days of binge eating and inactivity every week aren’t going to give your body that needed consistency. Vacations bring inconsistency to our lives, and they are bound to happen. While most people would deem that a reason to throw any healthy thought processes out the window, it doesn’t have to be the case.

While packing for any trip there is always the debate as to whether or not workout gear should be packed. It’s another pair of shoes, another stack of clothes…is there really room? Will there even be time? Your answer to these questions should be an astounding, “yes.” It is decisions like this that will keep you consistently on track, which is the best way to lose weight. Most hotels have some sort of facility that you can workout in, and even if they don’t, you can make do with what is available. Go walking or jogging to explore your new vacation surroundings! Do lunges, squats, pushups, or whatever you can fit in your hotel room. Bring an exercise band and a jump rope along on the trip. They are light-weight, and easy to use. You’re probably thinking, “That sounds like a hassle, I’ll just get back into my routine when I get home.” We’ve thought that a million times, and that is great. You should get back into your normal routine when you are back at home, BUT don’t let everything you’ve worked so hard for slip. Chances are your eating won’t be as great as it is back at home, so the more calories you can burn the better! It’s easy to fit in a quick workout, even on vacation. Plan for it. Include it in the itinerary. You’ll be glad you did!
