Pull Up Bars: How to Make Your Own Pull Up Bar

Pull up bars are a very useful and vital part of our everyday workout because unlike most other gym equipment, you can fix it up at home and workout for short durations whenever possible. If you’re keen on having one of these at home, you can simply order them from any of the online stores. However, that is going to cost you over 70$-80$, which may increase or decrease depending upon the brand and the shipment charges. If you think that’s way too much expenditure for a simple bar, you can very easily make one at home!

While making this bar, you’ll need four basic things; a metal bar (strong enough for high stress and weight conditions), joints, mounting plates and screws. These are the key requirements; you can add a few things later on as per your choice

Pick a strong metal bar of the approximate measurements you seek. While buying the bar, you can try the plumbing store. The plumbing pipes are best for this purpose because they’re threaded on both ends, so you won’t need to go through the trouble of getting them threaded. Next, screw the joints to either end of the chin up bar (for this you can use an end joint; the one that comes with a ninety degree turn).

After this, screw the mounting plates on both the respective end joints. Now, what you have is a simple pull up bar. The next step is fixing into the ceiling or doorway. While doing so, you’ll need to drill eight holes in the wall, four for each mounting. But before you actually start fixing it, make sure you’re drilling into a solid frame like a beam or something. If you can’t visually make out, try using a magnetic stud finder; it’ll give you the approximate location of a metal beam in the wall.
