Many menopause symptoms are common with most women between the ages of thirty five and sixty. Actually these symptoms are pre menopause, or perimenopause. What one woman may experience, another may not. However, there are many that are experienced by most. Who has not heard of, or experienced hot flashes? Hot flashes are not easy to describe, but imagine that at one moment you feel fine, and the next, you are overwhelmed with heat, as though you have run a marathon. This happens for no obvious reason, and more often than not, without warning. It is in fact the result of fluctuating hormone levels, and one of the most common symptoms.
Hot flashes also create ‘night sweats’, which are unexpected and overwhelming bouts of heat, which can make sleep difficult or even impossible for more than a few women. This contributes in large part to another menopause symptom, insomnia. Insomnia is quite common in women who are nearing menopause. Although this in and of itself is not a serious problem, the resulting lack of sleep could quickly become one. It is especially important for women to get proper rest as they age.
Irritability, moodiness, and depression are all menopause symptoms. Temporary minor bouts should not be of great concern, as long as they can be tolerated. However, serious ongoing depression or anger should always be discussed with a doctor. Do not ever be afraid to take medication if it is needed. There is no shame in needing a bit of help to get back to feeling good. There are also quite a few natural menopause relief aids available.
Perimenopause can last several years, or up to ten years or more. However, extreme symptoms lasting for more than a few years are usually rare. Some women may never have any extreme symptoms at all. It is important for women to eat right, exercise, and stay in the best possible health. This will do a great deal in reducing many menopause symptoms.
