All of us experiences stress in some point of our life. This clearly tells us that there might be possibility of having TMJ. Before talking about the TMJ treatment, you must at least have some idea of the TMJ symptoms. Some of the symptoms are: intense migraines, sore jaw, trouble in chewing food, having a hard time in opening jaw and clicking sound when opening the jaw. If you have been experiencing this, you better go and see your doctor.
Now, let us talk about TMJ treatment. Since mostly, clenching of teeth happens during sleeping which leads to teeth grinding, some people use mouth guards; this is to protect the tooth enamel. On the other hand, on extreme cases, mouth guards make it worse, making them grind their teeth more. Another TMJ treatment that they can use is the warm compress. Warm compress helps relax the muscles, in return relieving some tension on the affected area. Another is having the right diet. This diet does not mean for you to loose weight, but to lessen the tension in your jaw. The diet that a TMJ patient needs to follow is the soft diet. Eating hard and chewy foods add tension to your jaw and making your jaw work more. Be sure you still eat a well balanced meal. In extreme cases, doctors do recommend oral surgery to correct such abnormalities.
On the other hand, the medical team recommends that as much as possible, the treatment mentioned above may be done, which many of them believes and rules out procedure for oral surgery. If they do need it for TMJ treatment, it is their last resort.
