A lot of people are sick and tired of blackheads and whiteheads, but do you really know what they are? These are tiny plugs that develop in your skin’s pores. They are usually brought about when your overactive sebaceous glands or oil producing glands that is deep within your skin is clogged with oil. Since your pores are exposed to air, this accumulated sebum will harden, oxidizes and then turns black.
There is still much debate as to why this oil producing glands becomes overactive. However, it has been noted that this particular situation usually occurs during puberty and stops at the end of that stage which is why most researchers agree that this condition is hormonally controlled. Then again, there are some people who still experience whiteheads and blackheads even after the stage of puberty and all the way to adulthood. The formation of whiteheads is just the same as that of blackheads only with the absence of oxidation and the pores are closed.
If you want to get rid of whiteheads, you need to keep your skin oil free and as clean as possible. Use chemical or naturally prepared astringent solutions, masks or cleanser in order to achieve this. Steer away from soaps that contain harsh chemicals that may irritate your skin.
Another blackhead removal tip is to use a mild exfoliant to take away your dead skin cells. There are also blackhead strips readily available and you can find them easily on your local drugstore and even in supermarkets. This particular product looks like your normal adhesive tape. You simply place it firmly on your nose; take it out and some of the blackheads which are near the surface will be removed. Then again, you need to be very careful when using this product. Make it a point that you read the label for directions before you start using it.
